Yesterday we went for a wander in the historic centre of Salvador - Pelourinho. It was quite nice, lots of cobbled streets and winding roads but I have to say I thought it was a bit run down! When we went to the Modern Art Museum you could see loads of buildings almost torn apart and empty, but it did sort of add to the charm of the area. We saw load of women in traditional Bahian dress, but a lot of the shops were just aimed at toursists, selling things like bags and flip flops with tha Bahian or Brazilian flag on them...
In any case it was lovely to see, and there are not that many cities in Brazil that can boast the history that Salvador has.
